Look for Less: Emmy Awards 2014

After Sunday night’s disappointing outfits at the VMAs , we weren’t sure what to expect from the Emmy’s red carpet looks. But last night the stars brought their style A games and left us with some fashion moments to remember. Some of our favorite dresses came from Sarah Hyland, Julia Roberts, Lizzy Caplan, and Hayden Panettiere ( sporting the best accessory… the baby bump!).  With so much inspiration from one carpet ,  today we set out to help you find those looks for less! We have the designer pieces that will have you camera ready and looking like a starlet in no time!

Whether you have the baby glow to go with it or not, you can look stunning in a shining sequin gown just like Hayden Panettiere’s Lorena Sarbu number.

Add this Judith Leiber crystal minaudiere clutch to complete the red carpet look.

kristen-wiig

Kristin Wiig kept it simple and cool in this white silk dress from Vera Wang.  We love how she kept the look clean with minimal accessories.

Monique Lhullier

This Monique Lhullier gown has a similar slinky feel to the one the Bridesmaid star wore last night.

Just add a pair of uncomplicated t-strap pumps to keep the outfit crisp. These metallic Yves Saint Laurent sandals elevate the starlet style to the next level.

claire-danes julia-louis-dreyfus

There were some red hot looks at the Emmys Monday night and we loved it! Many stars steer away from the hue because they don’t want to blend in with the carpet. However, last night many celebs, like Claire Danes and Julia Louis Dreyfus weren’t afraid to come out blazing.

FASHION POLICE : VMA Edition

After assessing the red carpet looks from last night’s Video Music Awards , we have to admit that we think the celebs’ styles came up short.  Sequins, leather, studs, and  sheer everything… it has all been over done. We get it… its the Video Music Awards and we want our rockstars to have a little bit of an edge!  But some of the outfits from the red carpet were too over the top for our taste.  Don’t get us wrong though, there were a few celebrities who got the superstar style just right.  Check out our wrap up of all the best and worst looks from the award show.

2014-mtv-vmas-miley-cyrus-billboard-400

Last night Miley Cyrus rocked out a pair of leather high-waist pants with a matching bandeau top by Alexandre Vauthier. This look is on trend with matching crop top sets that have been in style this summer. We can’t say this is our favorite look for Miley, but she definitely looked chic and subdued ( for Miley anyway). We think this was a good pick for her, especially after last year’s Miley mayhem. ( do twerking and Robin Thicke ring a bell?)

cos-01-ariana-grande

Miley’s outfit was all leather done right, but we think Ariana Grande‘s outfit went wrong… This Moschino outfit is trying too hard to be sexy and grown up. Ariana has a fun young spirit about her and this all leather get-up is too severe. She should be wearing something more youthful and exuberant.

Nikki Minaj

Metallics were everywhere at the VMAs Sunday night.  Some stars wore the shining style in a sexy sophisticated way and others wore it ALL wrong. Nicki Minaj was one style star who hit the metallic nail on the head.  This snake print metallic mini from Saint Laurent is gorgeous on Minaj. We are loving her pared down style as of late… now if only she would smile!

454102314-iggy

Iggy Azalea also worked the silver metallic trend right at the show. This curve hugging gown from Atelier Versace was simply futuristic and fresh.

cos-04-wiz-kahlifa-amber-rose

Amber Rose also stepped out in a metallic number but she didn’t get it quite right. In fact, we aren’t sure if this even qualifies as an outfit. It appears as though Amber Rose just threw on a chain bra and some underwear… but we wouldn’t expect any thing less (or should we say MORE) from her. We will say it takes a confident woman to sport this look!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Amber Rose might share the same stylist because they both forgot to put on pants! We love Taylor’s valiant effort to try something out of her realm and to be a little sexier; however this attempt was a flop.  Ms. Swift has certainly got the legs for this look but the bottom is ill fitting. If the shorts were a little longer or if it was a different print this outfit may have had a fighting chance.  We usually love Taylor’s style but this one was just a bust.

nick jonas

Nick Jonas was one the best dressed guys at the VMAs.  He is no longer the littlest Jo Bro but an edgy rocker in this Vivienne Westwood plaid blazer and leather pants.

2014-mtv-vmas-riff-raff-katy-perry-billboard-400

We can’t say that Katy Perry was our best dressed at the awards, but we can say she has the outfit with the best sense of humor. We loved the homage to Britney and Justin’s denim ensembles circa 2001.

justin and britney

Thanks Katy Perry for the custom Versace VMA nostalgia!

Award Winning Style:Our Oscars Fashion Wrap-Up

I hate to admit this, but I have not seen most of the movies that were nominated for this year’s Oscars. However, exactly at 6:00pm, I started obsessively checking Twitter and Instagram, hoping the stars would soon start arriving. This excitement was met with absolute delight! Below are some of the office favorites, which were not easy to narrow down! Everyone pulled out their A-Game this year!

Kate Hudson – voted Best dressed by our office – in Atelier Versace dress

Image

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture

Image

Lupita Nyong’o in Prada

Image

Charlize Theron in Dior, with $15 million dollars worth of Harry Winston Jewelry!

Image

Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani

Image

We can’t talk about fashion, without mentioning how dapper the men looked! The white jacket was a popular style this year, especially for Matthew McConaghy (so happy he won), Ryan Seacrest, and Jared Leto!

Jared Leto – I love how quickly Twitter started talking about his hair, in regards to that he wore it straight, as opposed to his “man bun” – in Saint Laurent

Image

Bradley Cooper – Even though he went with the black jacket, this Tom Ford look was perfect for him! The girls in our office agree – he was voted Best Dress for the Men!

Image

Finally, we wanted to mention Michael B. Jordan, for taking a fashion risk with those shoes and pulling it off – in a Givenchy Tuxedo and Shoes!

Image

Let us know what you think of this years Oscars! We are already counting down the day’s til next year’s awards season!

The Votes are In!

Oscar_statuettes_1810272c

Using the categories Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, here are our predictions!

Best Picture – American Hustle

Image

*This was the only category that was a close call, but in the end American Hustle edged out Wolf of Wall Street

Best Actor – Leonardo DiCaprio

Image

Best Actress – Amy Adams

Image

Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Bradley Cooper

Image

Best Actress in a Supporting Role – Jennifer Lawrence

The Good, The Bad and The Colorful Pt. 2

With the 56th Annual Grammy’s approaching this Sunday, we know we can expect some crazy, over the top outfits. But what we also like to see is the dapper young men, dressed up in suits, reminding us why we first fell in love with them! Also, the lovely ladies, whose elegance and glamour, make us jealous!

Taylor Swift in 2013 in J. Mendel

Usually its hard for the guys to compete with the ladies, whose effortless beauty, overtakes the scene. However, this year, I’m looking forward to see which guy steps up his game to become out latest crush!

The Good, The Bad and The Colorful Pt. 1

The 56th Annual Grammys are back this Sunday, and there is one thing we always expect: over the top and downright crazy fashion!

We are highlighting our favorites from the past, including Lady Gaga, Cee-Lo Green, and more!

Here is hoping your favorites show up this year and don’t disappoint!

Fashion at the Emmys!

Days later, we are still talking about all of the gorgeous fashion the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards had to offer! Forget the golden statuettes, we were dazzled by so many glamorous gowns on the red carpet. This year, many of our favorite stars stole their fashion right off the runway. Others opted for custom made dresses based on their own inspirations. Sarah Silverman bought her dress online for sixty dollars which proves that you can still look incredible in discounted fashion! Sofia Vegara graced the red carpet looking like seven million bucks (which was the cost of her jewelry!) It was quite a night of glamour and it’s hard to narrow it down but here are some of our favorites from Sunday night’s big award ceremony.

Image

Claire Danes

Claire Danes looked elegant in deep v-neck skin tone gown by Armani Prive.

Image

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel dressed in a blue J Mendel gown, looked glamorous as always..

Allison Williams stunned in a simple blue Ralph Lauren strapless gown.

These were just some of our favorites from Sunday night. There are so many more stars who should be on this list! Didn’t see your favorite? Comment and tell us your pick for best dressed!

Get Gatsby Ready!

the_great_gatsby_movie-wide

With The Great Gatsby movie opening in theaters this weekend, we can’t help but get excited! (and not just because Leonardo DiCaprio is in it) As avid fashion lovers, we are especially eager to see Baz Luhrman’s interpretation of the 1920’s jazz style.  The Roaring 20’s had a very distinct aesthetic that was glamorous and fun! From flapper fringe, feathers, and strands of pearls it is easy to get inspired by the times. Check out these pieces inspired by the era and get the Gatsby look!

badgleymischka

We love this Badgley Mischka midnight blue drop-waist dress. It screams flapper. Start with this fabulous dress and add some Gatsby inspired accessories to complete the look.

Shimmy the night away in these perfect Chanel T-strap pumps.

If you weren’t eager to see The Great Gatsby film before, you ought to be now. The fashions of the 1920’s are super glamorous and fun. ( one might even say the cat’s meow!) We personally can’t wait to see the movie AND to try out some of these looks. Even if it is just one Gatsby inspired piece, don’t be afraid to channel Daisy this weekend.
