Award Winning Style:Our Oscars Fashion Wrap-Up

I hate to admit this, but I have not seen most of the movies that were nominated for this year’s Oscars. However, exactly at 6:00pm, I started obsessively checking Twitter and Instagram, hoping the stars would soon start arriving. This excitement was met with absolute delight! Below are some of the office favorites, which were not easy to narrow down! Everyone pulled out their A-Game this year!

Kate Hudson – voted Best dressed by our office – in Atelier Versace dress

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture

Lupita Nyong’o in Prada

Charlize Theron in Dior, with $15 million dollars worth of Harry Winston Jewelry!

Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani

We can’t talk about fashion, without mentioning how dapper the men looked! The white jacket was a popular style this year, especially for Matthew McConaghy (so happy he won), Ryan Seacrest, and Jared Leto!

Jared Leto – I love how quickly Twitter started talking about his hair, in regards to that he wore it straight, as opposed to his “man bun” – in Saint Laurent

Bradley Cooper – Even though he went with the black jacket, this Tom Ford look was perfect for him! The girls in our office agree – he was voted Best Dress for the Men!

Finally, we wanted to mention Michael B. Jordan, for taking a fashion risk with those shoes and pulling it off – in a Givenchy Tuxedo and Shoes!

Let us know what you think of this years Oscars! We are already counting down the day’s til next year’s awards season!

Men’s Fashion Week

We are often so busy planning our own wardrobes, sometimes we forget about the leading men in our lives! Of course, we love to look our very best but nothing says fashion like a dynamic duo (namely you and that gorgeous guy you’ve been dating) who plan to hit the town sporting the latest trends that fashion has to offer. Many of our favorite designers debuted more fabulous collections this season, and we have the scoop on what exciting trends are forthcoming.

Men’s Fashion Week in Paris gave us quite a show. From the devastatingly handsome to the rather unusual new trends this season, we were treated with a delicious debut which tied in both old fashion favorites and some bold new choices!

Prints Galore!

It was interesting  to see that many designers opted for prints. Prints are always a fashion favorite; however, more designers showed a unique side to these designs. Dries Van Noten showed his softer side with some floral print shirts and trousers. The floral print is going  Louis Vuitton kept it simple with plaid; while Ann Demeulemeester showed off some daring stripes.

Some designers opted for a bold, much more shocking approach. Literally.

The Bomber Jacket

Another trend that the men should be rocking is the bomber jacket. The zip front jacket was seen on numerous runways in a variety of materials. From suede to nylon to prints to solids, there were so many versions of the jacket that it is unavoidable.

And of course, nothing screams sexy more than this leather version from Saint Laurent.

Different shades of blue were also big on the runway. Cobalt and navy were especially prominent. It is a great change from the usual grays and blacks we see in men’s suiting.

All in all, Paris wrapped up a rather successful fashion week. But your man doesn’t have to wait until next Spring to wear some fabulous designer items.  We hope that Men’s Fashion Week has got you and your special guy inspired for a special night out looking bold, fashionable and absolutely fabulous!

SJP to Debut Fashion Collection?!

” Men I may not know, but shoes, shoes I know.” This famous quote comes from the (albeit fictional) woman who introduced us to Manolo Blahniks and to all things fabulous! If you don’t know, the fashion icon I am referring to, it is Sex in the City’s Carrie Bradshaw. Now in a way, we will be able to own a part of her chic style.  If you haven’t heard the news, the actress, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the infamous New Yorker, is coming out with her very own shoe line! For all you fashion admirers out there, this is exciting news especially since Sarah Jessica Parker has an equally amazing fashion sense as her fictional counterpart.

blue manolo

The fashion line is set to debut in January 2014 and will be sold exclusively at Nordstrom. Shoes are expected to retail from $200 to $300 and will probably feature mostly pumps.  The line will also include handbags and trench coats. The handbags will most likely sell for $700 and below. When asked about the look of the line, Sarah Jessica Parker mentioned that it will feature lots of suede and grosgrain ribbon. She was greatly influenced by her childhood in which she had to wear a grosgrain ribbon in her hair every day.

It sounds like the fashion collection will be soft and feminine, and perfect for all the Carrie lovers out there. We will eagerly be awaiting the debut of SJP’s line because if it’s one thing she knows, IT’S SHOES!

60’s Mod

Louis Vuitton Spring 13′

This Spring we don’t need an excuse to dress in the style of one of favorite eras. These flirty 60’s mod looks were all over the runways. Incorporate the looks into your everyday style without looking too “costumey” by taking one piece such as a dress or jacket and pairing it with modern shoes or a modern hairstyle.

Cutouts and sheer panels are going to be prevalent this season.  These peek a boo details allow you to be sexy without showing too much. This see through trend can also translate into accessories. We love this transparent Burberry handbag!

Far East Movement

Vivienne Westwood Spring ’13

There was an abundance of Asian influence on the Spring 2013 runways. We are seeing this inspiration coming through in prints, Kimono style dresses, and origami pleats.

With such a variety of trends for Spring, there is a look that will fit everyone’s style. As the weather gets warm, be bold and try one of these new styles! If you are timid about wearing a new look ease into it with accessories or one statement piece.  Fashion is fun so don’t be afraid to take a risk!

Kate’s “Baby Bump” Watch!

It’s undoubtedly every young girl’s dream to one day grow up, marry a handsome prince, have countless admirers all around the world, and wear the most beautiful  fashion in existence!!!

OK… maybe as fashion lovers we added in that last part; However for Kate Middleton, her childhood dreams have really come true.  The stunning Duchess of Cambridge has captured our hearts, and is now expecting her first child with Prince William. The happy couple announced their exciting news back in December and we have been on baby watch ever since. Forget the sex of the baby, the question on everyone’s minds is  what “baby bump” fashion trends will Kate be sporting over the next couple of months?

In general, Kate likes to keep her style simple, yet sophisticated. In fact her fashion choices have caught the eye of many fashion publicists around the world. She has been included on  Vanity Fair’s international best-dressed list, as well been chosen by as a monthly fashion icon. ( Just to name a few!) Many have also said some of Kate’s style is inspired by the late Princess Diana, who undoubtedly was one of the most remarkably distinguished fashion icons of the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

And of course, for any ladies out there who might be excepting, it’s no secret that we all want to look glamorous during those exciting nine months. For her “baby bump” debut, Kate kept it simple and classy with a gray long sleeve Max Mara wrap dress.

We look forward to more of Kate’s “baby bump” fashion trends as the months go on. And even if you aren’t expecting, this Duchess is surely one to follow for great fashion inspiration.

Alas, while we may not all be lucky enough to be a real princess like Kate, we can still dress like her! We don’t need a prince to rock royal fashion!

Fashion Week Report

The week that every fashionista waits for twice a year is upon us. If you aren’t an avid fashion follower than you may be wondering what I could possibly be referring to. Well for those of you who don’t know, Wednesday February 6 marked the start of the biannual New York Fashion Week. Twice a year designers, models, and fashion lovers alike flock to the Big Apple to preview the clothing lines from the most incredible designers around the world. Fashionistas from all over the globe dream of sitting in the coveted front row of their favorite fashion designer’s runway show. While we can’t be in NYC this week, we can dream for now and of course preview the presentations online. This week we look ahead to Fall 2013 to see what trends are going to be must haves. Fashion Week is only half way through, but here is what we have seen thus far.

Many designers are sending their models down the runway donning layer upon layer. While layering is nothing new to the Fall season, the trend seemed especially prevalent this year.  BCBG and Kimberly Ovitz were two designers that showed this trend in their presentations.

Cobalt Blue

One of the hot colors for Fall is bound to be cobalt blue. The hue is popping up on runways through out the Big Apple. If you are afraid to wear all out color, incorporate colbalt into your accessories.

Black and White

The classic color combination of black and white is making a huge statement this year on the runway. It has always been a wardrobe staple but this season it is making an edgy comeback. The color combo is hitting the runway in a graphic bold way.  Jason Wu perfected the look in his Fall 2013 show.
